The month of November is a time when we remember and honor the saints, as well as all of the faithful departed. At St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, the Morning Prayer assemblies during November include third grade students sharing information about the life of the saints, as well as a representation of the saint they researched.
Students are working hard in their studies, striving for academic excellence. Our youngest students focus on early reading and writing strategies and the development of number sense. Hands-on science and STREAM learning occurs throughout the day, including during time spent in the Media Center—even recess! Seventh grade students study and interact with life science topics, and eighth grade students are immersed in physics. They will soon travel to Busch Gardens for Physics Day.
The sports season has been a time of great achievement for the SMMCS Knights! The Girls JJV Basketball placed second in the Diocese of Orlando central region. The Boys Varsity Soccer brought home the central region Championship trophy, as well as the Diocesan trophy after defeating the Brevard and Volusia county top teams. Go Knights!
Across grade levels, students are studying, experiencing, and living the Catholic faith. The All Saints Day Mass and the Veterans Day Masses are annual liturgies that inspire the school community. As a community, we come together in service, and in prayer, praising God and asking Him to remain with us. We take time as we draw near to Thanksgiving to thank God for our many blessings. May our loving and gracious Lord bless our school and parish community.
In Christ’s love,
Mrs. Katie Walsh
