It was a daunting goal; raise $50K to build a fountain in memory of his classmate, Elizabeth Buckley, but John Michael Thomas did that exactly. Over the course of six months, he rallied family, friends, classmates, neighbors, and merchants to raise money for this special Eagle Scout project. The fountain features a peacock, Elizabeth’s favorite animal and a common theme in her artwork. A dedication ceremony is planned Thursday, December 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Central Park rose garden in downtown Winter Park. The story of this incredible tribute is featured in The Orlando Sentinel.
