Dear Friends,

As we begin the season of Advent, we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ at Christmas.  Advent is a time of hopeful waiting; a time when we answer the call to prepare ourselves: “Be vigilant at all times.” May our prayerful observance of this season of Advent draw us nearer to our loving and merciful God.

Throughout the Advent season, we are invited to avail of special opportunities to draw nearer to God.  The school community will attend Advent Penance Services, seeking God’s merciful forgiveness. Advent wreaths will be blessed and used during classroom prayer.

Music will fill the air as St. Margaret Mary Catholic School students sing at the lighting of the Winter Park Christmas tree, at the two school Advent concerts, at San Pedro Center, and at other special events. Students and families will participate in the Winter Park Police Department Toy Drive to provide toys for local children, and classes will participate in additional service opportunities.

The days of Advent will be filled with reminders of the true meaning of this season–the birth of Jesus Christ. With great hope, we await the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas.

In Christ’s love,
Mrs. Katie Walsh
