Dear Friends,
At St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, we are busily preparing for the new school year. The maintenance staff and vendors have been busy working throughout the days of summer. In the main building, the classrooms on the first and second floors have been renovated with the addition of new cabinetry and built-ins. The first-floor hallway has been updated with a drop-ceiling and enhancements to the Swoope Avenue entrance. The green field has been replaced and will be ready for students to enjoy on the first day of school. Many other enhancements have also been made.
Important back-to-school dates to assist you in your planning include Orientation Day, K-8, on Friday, August 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (You may come at any time during the morning.) It will take place in the Parish Hall and the classrooms. Used uniforms will be sold, and there will be information and sign-ups for many activities in the Parish Hall.
The New Family Welcome Social will be held on Sunday, August 9 in the Parish Hall, following the 9:30 a.m. Mass. New families and their sponsor families are invited to attend.
The first day of school for grades K-8 is August 10. We will dismiss at 12:00 p.m. on August 10th for professional development. The first day of school for Pre-K students is August 12. A Pre-K Ice Cream Social will be held on August 4, and Pre-K “Meet the Teacher” will take place on August 11.
A complete listing of important beginning dates for the school year as well as the important dates for the year have been sent to school parents and are listed on Family Portal. The St. Margaret Mary Catholic School Parent – Student Handbook is also posted on Family Portal.
As we plan for the beginning of this new school year, we pray through the intercession of our patroness, St. Margaret Mary, for God’s continued blessings on our school and parish community. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus strengthen us, and bestow his grace on us, as we seek to do his work during the coming school year. May God bless you and your families.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
In Christ’s peace,
Mrs. Katie Walsh
