Gospel Reflection

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which marks the end of the Christmas Season. In the Gospel reading, we read of the Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus and a voice coming from heaven, saying: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” As we read of this wondrous occasion following Jesus’ baptism, we are reminded of our own baptism when we began our journey as people of the light and followers of Jesus. As baptized people, we are called to live out our baptismal promises by listening to Jesus, the “beloved Son” and giving of ourselves for the good of others.
